Without giving away much of the plot, this wonderful picture book includes themes of being true to oneself, loving one\u2019s own unique features, and handling the inevitable jealousy\/envy that pops up in life. Though it\u2019s an adaptation of a Zimbabwe folk-tale, this book has a universal theme of \u201cwonderfully me.\u201d Additionally, this book works well for those kiddos who don\u2019t feel like they fit in with the popular crowd: \u201cColor on the outside is not what\u2019s on the inside.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As School Librarian, I worked with my \u201clunch-bunch\u201d <a href=\"http:\/\/www.awakenlibrarian.com\/2017\/10\/blerds-book-club.html\">Blerd Book Club<\/a>&nbsp;to&nbsp;create a little podcast of our debriefing discussion. The four steps are <strong>\u201cDo Now,\u201d \u201cDo Together,\u201d Do Next,\u201d and \u201cDo Reflect.\u201d<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><b>DO NOW:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Choose your favorite color and defend it with this sentence stem: My favorite color is ______ because of _______. <\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cI love purple and gold because my mother wears a lot of gold ring and I love to wear my favorite purple dress. In India, gold is a treasure.
